Hi all,

i have just just had my egr out and put a blanking in the location shown here:

The reason for my confusion is that every guide and example shows an egr with a square and oval shaped connection, where mine has 2 oval connections. Which should it go on?

i turned it on briefly and gave her some gas and there was no eml. But didn't go a run incase it's on in the wrong place.

much appreciated and thanks in advance.

After watching a particular video it looks as though it's the pipe on the bottom. But my screws are on the bottom making it near impossible for access. The one in the vid has them on the top and mine has 3 screws holding it in place not 4.

Why is this?

Thanks.

Hi, as you can see it is the best thing to be done on a diesel engine, it does not matter which end you blank off as long as it is before the EGR valve and you will have to remap your ECU so the mil light does not show or if you wish not to remap use the blanking plate with the hole in it, this will stop most of the gases but you will have still clean the EGR from time to time.

I have the 150 and did this as soon as I got the car home; my advice is to do it the proper way and totally blank it off and remap your ECU, before blanking off you should clean the EGR valve and the inlet manifold as much possible, if you remove the manifold to clean its easier.

Mines been blanked off for over 3 years now and no problems at all, no mil light showing ever, abit of advice about remapping only use someone with tried and tested good results as some remappers say they can do it and they can’t, if you have any problems with it let me know I can help, steve.

Very helpful, thanks. When you say make sure it is before the egr, is mine in the right place?

Or do I blank off the bottom hose? Mine is looking pretty "gunky" around the outside of the hoses and everything so I'm going to clean it al. Just want to know where to put my plate so not to damage anything.

Can you run the car without remapping with eml on? Or is this not advised? I could take out plate and delete error from computer for mot etc.

As MollyGoogle says it's fine to run with mil light on, as I have the 150 and it being different set up to the 120, to blank any kind of EGR valve off is to prevent exhaust gases passing through the valve, so top or bottom of the pipe that comes from the exhaust to the EGR valve it does not matter, which is the easy option, top or bottom do the easier one, job done but clean as much of the crap away as you can if you don't fancy stripping parts down, Steve.
