Hi, I have an '06 Zafira SRI. I am putting a bluetooth handsfree kit into the car and am looking for a tip. As my car has no factory fitted loom for the handsfree I have ordered an adapter lead to connect the kit to the back of the stereo. My understanding is that these new stereos do not have an ignition sense wire, so my question is does anyone have a suggestion of a good place to pick one up from? There does look to be one going to the heater control system but it is quite a thick cable and I was hoping for one suitable for a red cable lock connector.

Thanks.

Well my loom arrived for the stereo on Saturday, so I got on with the job.

I hunted high and low for the ash tray feed that is on the Astra but unfortunately it either isn't there on the Zaffy or too well hidden to find. In the end I had spotted a post in another thread which mentioned one on the Hazard light switch, so I managed to use that one. Once that was sorted the rest was easy.

Cheers for the help.

For anyone else wanting to do this the following should be helpful.

  • You will require a loom as the standard plug in the radio does not have the radio mute or speaker inputs from the hands free kit. The cheapest I could find was from Low Cost Car Audio You are looking for an 06-122B lead.
  • You need to remove the glove box. 2 quarter turn plastic retaining clips on the kick plate below the glove box and the 4 screws (Torx T20 bit). 2 at the top and 2 at the bottom. Remove the glove box light and then pull the glove box out.
  • Remove the stereo. You will require the appropriate prongs for this, I got mine from (whispers) Halfords. Then unplug the quadlock connector and ariel.
  • Remove the heater controls and the 2 connectors.
  • To be able to run the wires neatly, I recommend removing the console facier. There are 2 Torx screws at the bottom left and right behind the heater controls and then pop up the black plastic where it meets the console and there is a Torx screw either side. Using a screwdriver pop the top of the console either side and it will come off.
  • Use a multimeter to identify the switched live. I took the plug apart to do this.
The rest is straight forward. The loom has a red for permanent feed, the yellow is radio mute the audio wires are obvious and the blue for the switched live.

Hope this helps someone.

A bit late for you but I found this lead after hours of searching and reading, Its a bit pricey but well worth it in my opinion, uses can bus interface all you need to fit is the mic and ck-7w brain no other wiring but this cable, and the call control is through the steering wheel. really easy to fit as well

Automobili themselves are really helpful as well I rang and had a word with them before I bought.
