Hi guys I've just blanked my egr on the egr inlet pipe and it's not put the eml on which is a great bonus
Also the car seems quicker?? Is this the usual case?? Thanks Matt

Did you blank it off fully or with a hole?

If there is a hole there is a chance the EML will stay off but then what is the point in the blanking plate?
If you put a full plate on, all I can think is that the EML will come on after 10 / 15 miles of driving

As for seeming quicker.. Yes
You are no longer putting exhaust gasses back into the mix, just Fuel and Air, so in theory it should be a bit quicker..

The downside however is it can smoke more as all the crap that used to go back into the inlet is now going out the exhaust

Info please!!

Hi Lads I know all about how the EGR system works on diesel engine and the blanking off options but this car is new to me and believe the EGR system is electronically controlled by the ECU, is this correct?

My last car was an MGZT CDTI 2.0 with the BMW M47R engine, I blanked the EGR off on this engine when car was just a year old with a bypass pipe and ran up to just over 90k with no problems at all but the EGR system was mechanical operated with a vacuum pump, no problems with limp mode or mil lights on etc, this removed the EGR valve completely, can this be done with the 1.9 unit?

Would one of you please give me the things I should be checking and any modifications I can do, there was loads for my last car like, EGR bypass, air intake mod, PCV, de-cat and tuning boxes etc.

I do not agree with the EGR system as diesel like to suck and blow unrestricted as possible, I will appreciate any heads up you can give me, thanks Steve
