Should be on the air intake pipe just after the air box? you'll know cos it will have wires coming from it.

Try a 1.8 16v one from a scrappy?

 

ebay have them m8 for about £30 some arent listed for the actual engine so ideally get the part no. off it as it only takes 2 secs to take off and search it in ebay but do search title and description too if that fails just ask the seller if they can supply one for yours thats how i eneded up getting mine for my coupe turbo in the end

 

I have one from a 1.8 16v veccy p plate that is just sitting about the house.
Part number is 90 411 957 (siemens). Perfect working order.
If it will fit then pm me and ill let you have it cheap.

Yeah they do. Look on the back of the airbox, should be clipped onto the back of it

It's more commonly called the AFM or air flow meter

nah m8 there isn't 1. i spoke to vauxhall. on the 16v's they dont use them.

 

there must be some sort of device/sensor controlling the airflow tho surely

Looked at a few engine bay pics of 1.6 16v's on ebay and didn't see an airflow meter on some of them.

1.6 16v uses Manifiold Air Pressure MAP, 1.8 16v uses Mass Air Flow Meter AFM of MAF.

 

this ones in mine don't know if it's MAP or AFM .
it's where the red clip is attached to the back of the airbox.

not sure where the map or afm is on the 1.6 16v m8 but the purge valve recycles the fuel vapours from the tank(Y)

The Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor will be on the inlet manifold as it senses manifold pressure.
